Logitech is a world leader in personal peripherals, driving innovation in PC navigation, Internet communications, digital music, home-entertainment control, gaming and wireless devices. The company's products combine essential core technologies, continuing innovation, award-winning industrial design and excellent value.
Logitech International is a Swiss public company traded on the SWX Swiss Exchange under the symbol LOGN and on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol LOGI. In January 2007, Logitech was added to the NASDAQ-100 Index®.
Logitech started in the OEM sector, which remains an important part of the business, and represented 15 percent of the company's total sales in Fiscal Year 2009. To meet the demands of its OEM customer base, which includes most of the world's largest PC manufacturers, Logitech offers high-volume manufacturing with focused quality control, worldwide distribution and logistics, and the ability to leverage its infrastructure under changing demand conditions.
Logitech's retail business accounted for 85 percent of its revenue in FY 2009. The company's original presence and growth in retail was driven by a trend among consumers to enhance their basic desktop PC systems with more fully featured personal peripherals that add functionality and cordless freedom to their desktop. Now, consumers are also purchasing supplementary devices designed for new applications and specific purposes such as gaming, digital music, multimedia, audio and visual communication over the Internet and PC-based video security. Another more recent trend is driving Logitech's growth in PC peripherals: as sales of notebook PCs overtake those of desktop PCs, a growing number of people are turning to Logitech to make their notebook PC experience more comfortable and more effective. For notebook PC users at home, out and about town or on the road, Logitech offers specially designed peripherals, such as mice, speakers, webcams, headsets, headphones and notebook stands.
Logitech's retail business also includes personal peripherals for platforms beyond the PC, such as gaming consoles, portable music players, mobile phones and home-entertainment systems.
The company believes that significant consumer trends will result in continuing retail growth:
Wireless connectivity. As wireless technologies have become more reliable and affordable, the consumer appetite for wireless freedom has increased. Having cut the cords very early on with its mice, Logitech has developed specific expertise in wireless technology and offers a range of wireless devices, including mice, keyboards, presentation devices, headphones, gaming controllers and streaming music systems.
Applications built on broadband Internet connectivity. As more people around the world gain affordable access to fast Internet connectivity, their computer use is increasing and they are taking advantage of applications such as free voice and video communications, video security, video sharing on popular Web sites, Web-based music and radio, 3D exploration of the Earth, and many other resources on the Web. This trend is fueling demand for Logitech products that enhance the user experience with these applications, including multimedia keyboards and mice, webcams, voice-access headsets, speakers, 3D navigation devices, and streaming media systems.
The popularity of digital music. The iPod®/MP3 player is becoming increasingly more ubiquitous and music downloads are growing as people take their music and enoy it anywhere they go. Logitech is addressing the needs of music enthusiasts with premium speakers for the home as well as a range of portable speakers and wireless headphones for people who are out and about. In addition, Logitech offers wireless music systems that let people wirelessly stream music from the Internet or from their PC to any room in the house.
The emergence of the digital home. The digital home is becoming a reality as more and more people are upgrading their home-entertainment systems with flat-panel TVs, digital-video recorders, digital audio systems, PC-based media systems and game consoles enjoy gaming, music, radio broadcasts, movies, TV and photo sharing with friends and family. Logitech offers a family of advanced universal remote controls to tame the complexities of home-entertainment systems. The company also offers a range of peripherals for game consoles, premium multimedia speakers for a high-end audio experience and streaming media systems for digital audio.
